I could use some help on prop selection

    I bought a 1988 21 foot Celebrity bowrider. It has a 4.3 175 hp alpha 1 drive. running at 4000 rpm range.Any prop ideas?

Depends on $, not quite cubic $, but enough.

Assuming that you're still running the stock alum prop, you can upgrade to stainless, depending on the brand, and outlet, average 400

I haven't tried a ported prop on an I/O, some ported props come with removable plugs, you could try it with and without, see if it improves your holeshot.

The other improvement is to replace that 2 barrel carb with the Q-Jet intake and carb used on another model Merc 4.3

Should be available at a marine salvage/recycler

Possibly better milage at minimum cruising speed with Q-jet's smaller primaries/higher air velosity at part throttle.

I set one of these up years back.....

...had good top end but no hole shot, even pulling one skier was near impossible. The fix was to swap to a Land and Sea Torque Shift variable pitch prop- top end remained the same, but the boat could now easily pull up 2 skiers with 3 people in the boat. The bad news is that the prop isn't available anymore and was a PIA to get working right.

I think I still have a quicksilver torque shift prop.

Let me know if you are interested.
