If you are talking about the Etec 200 and Etec 200HO,

The 200 is a 2.6 liter block, 60*V, generic gearcase, right at 200hp

The 200HO is a 3.3 liter block, 90* V, lightning gearcase, of course different EMM that is "factory tuned for high performance", puts out a good bit more than 200hp, and a lot more torque than the standard 200. The 200HO is perfect for bass boats or performance rigs that benefit from the larger displacement.

I heard a rumor similar to that. Something to do with regulations in bass tornaments? I don't know for sure though.

Remember too though that you can only fudge HP #'s by 10% of advertised.
Meaning 225 HO legally can only be 250's anyhow.

The older carbed HO's (had two on my old Sonic) from about '98 to '2000 were drastically different and were in my mind the best carbed OMC's ever built.
254 at the crank and 247 at the prop with brutal low end.
Would run right with or just ahead of a 225 P.Max which ain't bad for a carbed antique!
