BWM Supercharger
I've been working on this project for 4 months and now it's alive.
My 1997 BMW 318IS with a 1.8L 4 cylinder was good on gas but lacked power plus I got tired of my wife telling me it looks like a girls car. I decided to give the car some ballz. I installed a Eaton Roots 62 cubic inch Blower It is the same unit you would find on a Mercedes SLK Roadster and positive displacement so I have 5psi of boost at 2,000rpm. I am currently boosting 8.5psi total which brings wheel HP to 200+ with tons of low end torq. I took it out to the illegial street races last night and killed a Audi 1.8T, Mustang 4.6L V8 and a BMW M3. Lost to a WRX STI turbo. It was a blast The car is a daily driver and will pass California emissions. Next step is Aquamist water/meth injection, larger injectors, and a Nick G fuel stand-alone fuel management and a 3.1 pulley to take boost to 10.5psi and I will find that WRX that beat me.

Sleeper
Great job great post Blower motor are titz, I had a 63 Valiant 225 6cyl Mc Cullough blower w/ 4bbl, and a Littlefield 6-71 on my 24 Superboat BBC till some scumbag in NJ stole it.
I started on BMW's 2/79 at a dealer, had the pleasure to drive a 79 323i import (6 cyl 320) and a 1979 320i with a turbo
I had a 79 320i for many many years, now I have a 87 325ic
Best of luck with your next mods on your "wifes grocery getter"Last edited by BUSHWACKER; 08-19-2007 at 10:22 PM.

No controller I have a boost sensitive fuel pressure regulator. Jacks the fuel pressure from 55psi to 85psi depending on boost. I have the current injectors maxed out so I need to switch to 39# and flash DME controller. I need to keep fuel milage above 30mpg. With the system installed I drove 435 highway miles on 13.5 gallons of gas.
I'm lookming for a 10.5psi pulley and will inject water/meth for inter-cooling under boost. I will re-map the stock DME(ECU) for fuel control. Should see 240+ whp with this combo. Then I can't do anything else except add nitrous which I'm not doing. I've learned from past experience with getting greedy with NOS. I sold my 71 Vega with 406ci nitrous injected 7 years ago so I could buy my 2000 Mirage. Still have the Mirage and drive it most weekends but can't shake the street car racing out of my system.Last edited by JohnBoy; 08-20-2007 at 08:29 AM. Reason: spelling errors

What about spark, those BMW's don't need the ignition "boosted"?

sounds good John Boy, You'll like that meth injection. for a stock-ish 15,000 mile a year daily driver, eaton head units are the only way to fly.

Fish, yea it's been a while. New born is 14 months now so I'm starting to play again. I never see you guys because I run salt and my trailer is all jacked up. I'm lucky to make it to the local store and ramp that is at the end of my street. Maybe if I put some time in the trailer I can make some of the runs.
Take care, John S
