    Ring 20

I am thinking of buying a ring 20 and I would like to know if any body knows how they ride and what engine would be good on it? Also do u think it could keep up with 22 progressions in offshore races?

    Hi

I run a Ring 21. Great in the rough but the top end is not as good as it could be. I run a 2.0L race XR2 200hp on mine and she'll run mid 60's swinging a well worked 22 chopper.

Would deinitely see 70's im sure if she was running a 260 or 280 EFI. Some of the ski racers in the UK have run twin EFI's although i'm not sure what top end they see.

I am thinking of getting a merc 2.5 280 with offshore mid to put on it, that should push it pretty good.

Do u know any thing about 22 progressions? and if u do how would they compare to a ring 20 in offshore races both running 2.5 mercs

That would be a very intresting head to head I must confess. IMHO the Progression would be quicker in the calmer conditions with the Ring prefering the other end of the scale. Mike built them fairly bullet proof. So bolt everything & yourself in and go for it. Sure you can fit a 280 even twin 280's but I think it upsets the balance. They drive really well but attention is required when you pass the low 70's IMHO but that might be more to do with the fact that they are so very easy below that you sometimes forget how quick your going

Edit: afterthought what about a Frode 21

Ok guys, I took these videos when watching the main race of our offshore season the 'round the island' race. You get a quick sample of what the different classes and speeds they reach, these are all on the calmest waters of the race and the boats are WOT at this location...

    A-Class: Phantom 16 - 90hp
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsLikmA5NRs

    FB-Class:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqRzK45k3bs - Phantom 18 & Allison Drag boat - Stock Evinrude 150's

    C-Class: 21 Skaters
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIgLMF2Pkec - Yamaha V-Max engine
(Roughest part of course) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CWy16CdsqU - Merc engine

    D-Class:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SL9OtZqYpRU - Ocke Mannerfelt #1
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX4XejrnW_w - Ocke Mannerfelt #2
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEm2wLA9swQ - #1 on rough waters
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPXAYw5LrWk - class winner, Progression 22 - rough section

    P-Class:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX137mqMOWY - 21 Skater Merc 300
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jah7PKNPnW8 - 2? Skater - Twin 300XS

    S-Class:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ273HWTSDI - Twin Merc 2.8's?
    (rough part of course) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZblPuT-a9I

If somebody can imbed the video's into a single post I would greatly appreciate it! Enjoy!
