    Speedo pilot mount location

Where do you guys mount your speedo pilot on a v hull ? at the very bottom of the transom? My old speedo pilot was on th transom and it was very jumpy and did not seem accurate .....pics would be nice if you have any

    Thanks

Right in the middle of the pad, or off to one side, on the transom. If you go to far to the chine of the boat the pick up will come out of the water at high speeds.Just look at some of the pics on this site, boats riding on the pad. Get a good speedo and they don't jump. I have a Gaffrig and in chop it sits still. You have to spend some money on a good one and Medallion or telexflex is not a good one. Norscog, Gaffrig good ones.

Don't put it in the middle it may cause the prop to cavitate.

Cheaper and far more acurate - GPS. I have a GPS, and a paddle wheel for trolling, eliminated my pitot tube. A pitot tube will not be very accurate under 35MPH and over 90MPH.

    I'm with the GPS wagon.
The plastic type can/will break off. If you really want to use one they make them longer so it will extend down to the water when mounted to the side.
