Barron - Note the "Bulldog" name on the side of the boat. Milt Roeber sometimes talked about a WWII pilot turned boat racer that went by the name "Bulldog Drummond". Seems he once bailed out of an airplane sans parachute, landed on a deeply snow covered incline and survived.. In the late 1920's and 1930's there was a fictional British detective named "Bulldog Drummond". Perhaps the guy that Milt talked about was named Drummond and he picked up on the Bulldog moniker. That's my best guess. Best Regards - Steve Sirois

We had a boat racer named Drummond Musset in the 50's early 60's..that's the type of boat he sometimes ran..I think he was connected with a boat factory..He was older than I was and pretty popular with the old timers of those days.. Like we are now the old timers..I think Brownie knew him..He used the Bulldog handle also..Sam Griffith was the one that bailed without a chute that opened and lived..They were both tough old boys..

Butch - Yes! Bulldog Drummond Musset definately was the name that Milt talked about. Amazing how, when todays "Old Timers" put their heads together, the dust clears a little bit and things just come tumbling out of the old grey matter. I wish I'd had more of an opportunity to talk to you and Treasure during the ''"Old Farts Reunion". Best Regards - Steve

This is a picture of Bulldog Drummond Musset.
He drove in a lot of the South Florida Marathons and even the Miami to Nassau race. He got thrown out of his boat and run over in the 9 Hour held in the Miami Marine stadium. He died of his injuries. I think it was December of 65 or January of 66. As I remember he even look like a bulldog.

Hi Charlie - Getting run over by his own boat....I think you may be thinking of Hank Bowman, unless it also happened to Bulldog. I was actually right behind Bowman and saw the whole incident. It is one of those horrible things that sticks in the memory forever. Additionally, I had broken in the engine in Bowman's boat at the Lake. - Steve

You are right, it was Hank Bowman I was thinking about that got killed.
Bulldog was in a lot og the races though in S Florida.

    Hi Steve,
I am not sure who they are, but who is the old guy with the two younger ones.
BTW I brought one of my 2 seaters back to Florida and will probably try to fly over to River Ranch to see the fast boats in November. If you make it maybe we can go for a test ride!
