    Need Help...good Price???

I have a chance to buy a 1993 euro STV with a merc 225 and trailer for 12,000$. It needs paint but interior is mint I am looking to see if this is a good investment because I will not buy this boat if it isnt a good deal. But if I could use it for a couple summers do you think I could atleast get my money back when I sell it.

If indeed it only has cosmetic issues , this is a very fair price for a STV . Not sure I would call it an investment . But it could provide a couple of summers worth of fun . Rich Martin 018

you should never buy a boat on the assumption that you will get your money back or make money on it. buy it because you want the enjoyment of owning it. otherwise you will be very dissapointed.
Don't lick my boat, It makes it sticky!

Well thanks for the info well what I am saying is that I would not buy a boat right now unless it was a good deal. Not that I do not like the boat and I have only heard good things about STV I just did not want to waste my money I appreciate the help and I can not wait to own an STV. Are they a rare boat like everybody seys they are.

No , They are not rare . Just have to know what circles to find them in . Looks like your in the wright spot now . Just look in hulls under 20' on this site . They can also be purchased new . FullThrotle Power boats has just purchased the mold ,but not sure if he has built any yet . Rich Martin 018

In my opinion this is not a great deal. Boats that need paint are a pain. Owner should have taken care of it and whos to say there aen't more issues with it?
What year is the Merc? If it's and 80's model then it is a 2.4 and no deal at all. If it's a pro max it has a chance to be a good motor depending on year and if and how many times it has been rebuilt. The if's go on and on. Need more info. Good luck. I have a tunnel boat that I bought because I thought it was an okay deal because of gel coat issues. So far the gel coat job that I am doing( we all think we can) has cost me over 2k and 2 months of prep work. No gel yet! I am so burned out on it I will finish next year! (maybe)

My advise is to hold out and get one in great cond . You may pay for it but it will be worth the wait.

Well thanks for the info the owner of the boat is a good guy by the name of Pat Padgett the owner of Cat can do marine. He is willing to work with me for the paint and wrap of the boat. But if you think that 12K is not a good deal for hull, motor (pro max), and trailer than I am thinking twice about the deal. I really appreciate the info.

    Stv

In my opinion this is a good deal because of the ProMax. Make sure the transom is in good condition because of it`s age. If you derigg the boat yourself there are lot`s of painter`s that will prep and paint your boat at a reasonable price. Before you deside to paint it first make sure it really need`s painting. Gel is fairly thick and can be sanded and buffed.

Thanks for the help well when I said paintjob I just meant that the red "windshield" is faded and besides that the white is in good condition. Again this is a guy that would help me out if anything went wrong, he owns a boat company so I know if it breaks the next day i got it he would take care of me.

Well I was able to receive more info on the boat the hull is a 1993 summerford built stv euro with kevlar. The motor is a 2002 225 promax x. Also has custom leather seats. I have talked with him and after repainting the boat putting hyd. steering and recarpeting it, I am looking at around 14-15 K what do you think of this price????

Sounds like you already made up your mind. I would never have another painted boat.

Rich, no deals out here, I buy my Allisons and others back east.
