Wildcat`
I believe most of them weighed in the 500# range pretty light, they are good drag boats but have a bad reputation for blowing over which is what caused them to be banned in some associations back in the early mid 90's. The pad is ABOVE the sponsons which makes it a true tunnel instead of a mod tunnel, the tunnels are very shallow which makes it accelerate quickly. The boat in my opinion is not safe above 115 mph!!! Just my opinion but it has a tendency above that with the shallow tunnels to not slow down gradually when you get out of the throttle, it tends to not release air and then all of a sudden it releases the back end drops and the nose comes up thus causing a blow over. Below 115 it doesn;t seem to have that problem.
I'd be happy to talk to you if you'd like

Here is a pic of me drag racing against one. This was guy named Pete's boat.He blew it over about a year after this pic was taken at Eustis Florida.Got pretty banged up and I dont think he ever raced again after that.
This boat was super fast in the 1/4 mile.I beleive this boat belongs to Greg Moss.I could never beat him.Just be carefull if you get one.

Yep I own it now
There is a difference in this boat to another Wildcat. Mine has a pad added to it so the center pod is below the sponsons more like a Polecat. The boat runs very well and very controllable. http://www.byuboyz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16112 I have alot of pictures here.

Wildcat/Polecat
Greg is right the Polecat has the pad dropped below the sponsons just a little bit, mine runs very sweet and is predictable and stable up to 115!!! I won't take it any faster!!!
I wanted to go faster so I have bought a Quartershot T-1 and have already run it 117 in the 1/4

I can see why the guy in the first pic went over. Most tunnel type boat`s will blow over at that angle when at top speed. If you get a Wild Cat please don`t run it that high.

I won 1400 LBS Modified World and High Points Championships in a Mirage Polecat... A Polecat is a Wilcat with a 1 1/4" deeper center pod "scabbed" on the center pod. There was NO SUCH thing as a Polecat mold . I was sponcered by Brad Collins at the time the Polecat and Wildcat were popular and saw every mold they were using. The Wildcat was difficult to drive, it was a straight line tracker but over 80 miles an hour was resistant in turning. It also had VERY shallow tunnels and as long as the MPH was kept below say 112 to 115 and the motor kept running and the trim angle of the engine kept resistants on the front your were OK BUT above that speed or you loose a motor and the push downward of the engine was lost the front would lift and the air channels would be cut off due to thier shallow deminsions and over your going ( Ask RL about a Wildcat ).... After Brad "scabbed" on a 1 1/4" lower step on the center pod of my hull the boat took on a different additude and was safe and a joy to drive...It could be driven very flat and would not only leave like a tunnel but would run on the big end with the Allisons...( Been there and done it ) ( Ah the good old days ! )
Good luck,Jay @ JSRE
