From the prices I have seen advertised on S&F, there does not appear to be a significant savings in buying a drop on powerhead vs an entire motor, Toffen. If I'm not mistaken, you have a 300PM, but you might be better off selling it and buying an entire 300X. The relative inactivity on this board in buying and selling Merc 3.0 stuff is an additional hinderance.
Just my opinion.

Toffen,
I agree with Still Crazy - trying to buy a 300X powerhead would be a false economy. Mercury does sell this powerhead, however, I am not sure if that includes the electronics, etc.

If you want a 300X, your best bet is to sell the PM300, and buy a whole motor. For fun, I attached a pic of the 300X intake system - it's way different than the "regular" ProMax 300.

Where is the best place to buy an X?
Hey Greg, Ed,
Where is the best place to buy one. I am thinking about financing one. What kind of APRs does Merc have?
Anyone know if the wiring harness, control/throttle cables, and guages will all go right into the 300 X from a 2.5?2004 Hydra-Sports Vector 2600 - twin 225 Yamahas
