Aquabuff-Rallysport Resurrection
It was a daunting task but it is done, and shines like new. All the old oxidation, leftover clear coat and most importantly, the mail box numbers are gone
All in all, i'de say it was close to 40hrs of work.
I started with 220 grit (used a job pack of sandpaper-20 sheets)
Then 400, 800 and 1000 grit. about 50-60 sheets total
Next was buffing with AB2000 and then a final sanding w/ 1500 and then another buffing. Still need some more work where the old reg #'s were, but still very pleased with the results.

Thanks guys. prop is a old 24'' aluminum. runs in the 70's. Havent had it wide open yet, still need to sand the bottom (some old barnicle stains) and need to smooth the gearcase out too. Im going to be adding 10-15'' setback and looking for a ballistic 4 blade. should turn over 6k at 80+ i would imagine.
High RPM buffer w/ wool pad and spray water when needed. You'll start to feel the aquabuff cutting when its dry and you can see the shine come as you go. You'll get a good feel for it, trust your instincts you wont be dissapointed. goodluck bro. oh yeah depending on how bad your boat is you might only need the 2000.

Have stress cracks in the transom appeared with that V-8? I recently bought a 2004 Rallysport and put a new Yamaha 300 V-Max on it, and am curious.
Thanks.

Hey thats pretty cool I havent seen many rallysports on this site at all. I'de love to see some pics sometime. What's hangin off the back?
You are correct that is Lynn lynn the city of sin. Well technically is Revere but close enough. I usually boat around Marblehead, Salem, Manchester, Lynn, Boston etc.. I also make a few trips to Lake Pawtuckaway in NH each year but am planning to explore more lakes this year. Ill let you know If Im ever heading up you wayLast edited by Checkmate2.5; 01-12-2008 at 12:49 PM.
