I wish engines like the X-12 and Wizzard would somehow end up on a boat of some sort for all to see.

You forgot to mention that Jim’s partner Kathy was also a wonderful person.
My family was very fortunate indeed to have have known Jim’s mother and father and have given my children some of the fondest memories of their lives.
The Wilson family will be forever grateful to the Hauenstien family, especially Jim and Kathy.

How could you not know of the Wizzard. Fred

made the creation at Merc to compete with OMC V-8. It went like stink in a straight line, but wouldn't corner very well. It tore the transom off the back of the boat and ended up at the bottom of the river.

Scared the crap out of OMC both times though——— was never destined for greatness———- bit like the Rotary ———— scared the crap out of Mercury a couple of times, but didn’t last ?

I have always been one to think out of the box and because of that I cannot get that X-12 off my mind. Man what a great idea. I can just imagine the torque of that beast.

Back in the late 90`s me and a bud got in touch with Mr Hauenstien about maybe a purchace of the Wizard mounting equipment. He said he would have to speak to his Brother Jim first because it was half his. Then he said we would be better off building our own and told us of a plan to cant the powerheads in at the front by machining the front half and intake on an angle to make it all more narrow. We drew it up and I believe it would have been doable but certain things came up that prevented it from happening.

Man to have a foundry at your beckoning like Mr rckid74 had would be awesome. What a cool job you had.
