I remember when the V6 production Merc came out. Brand loyalty was still very much a part of our culture and there were several old, established OMC and Merc dealers in this area. There was a rumor floating around that the new Merc V6 had a serious vibration problem. Rumor was that "it would shake the stern out of your boat". Now knowing that the Merc was a 60 degree 6, that hardly seems possible. Sounds like OMC started that one! Just wonder if it came from the local dealers or OMC itself. Will never know. I do remember that talk going around a lot at the time.

I have an early serial number 76 1750, even with solid mounts it idles very nice.

I had a '76 1750 as well. Entire rpm range, it ran perfect. There were a couple of those old Merc V-6's that really put a smile on my face. My first 200 2.4 was another one.

It's the equation required to generate the trochoid of the famous OMC rotary racing engine.

    Pls delete my previous post.
I screwed up. I was trying to post the picture of Barry Woods Passing Bill Seebold at Paris 1974 as a reply that performance doesn't always lead to production.
