on the left side I could never get the bag to pull down right so I gave up and put some fertilizer on it.
Bag not big enough / not enough pleats / wouldn't seal at edges of stringers. I did do a test and could pull a good vacuum onto a dry divinycell panel78 Hydrostream Vandal - under restoration here: VANDAL RESTORATION THREAD

A little more info:
Everywhere I putting down core, I am laying up one layer of 1708 under the core at the same time. After grinding out the old core there are places with very little outer skin left.
Resin is System Three Silver Tip, thickened with wood flour and spread with a notched trowel.
On the right side the extra glass that was supposed to run up over the stringer got caught in the bag and folded over. It has since been ground out. This whole area gets glassed when the inner skin goes in.
For the inner skin I laid up one layer each of 12oz 45/45 and 0/90 biaxial, wet on wet.78 Hydrostream Vandal - under restoration here: VANDAL RESTORATION THREAD

My brother came up again today and we made some more progress.
Decided to divide the side core into 3 regions to keep things manageable. We already did the front panel, and today did the middle panel. The bag was more simple since we didn't have to deal with sealing the end wall.
Stretchlon film and the yellow tape work well, have to do a little planning to make sure everything goes where it is supposed to and the bag sticks down well.
Also taped together the rear seat panels and laid down a fiberglass tape seam. I can't get the d-cell to bend as much as I want, unless I score it so much that it breaks. I'd like to find some core material for non-structural locations that is more flexible.Last edited by Matt Gent; 02-07-2010 at 10:56 PM.
