    Trailering question

This is my first Mod-Vp and I really like the trailer setup. One thing I am not use to is no winch on trailer tongue. There's a pivoting bar with a pin that does through bow eye and that bar. It hasn't been too difficult to put back on trailer, but it seems tedious to get boat in just the right place to lift bar and slide pin in.

Any hints or suggestions on making this easier?
    Best regards,
    David

    I have a similar thread going http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...d.php?t=127200.
The boat and trailer I bought this winter is the same way. Will be interested to see what people say. I haven’t had the boat in the water yet, but it just looks difficult to line up. Do you have a chain to hold the bow from bobbing under tow? Mine came with nothing. I just wrap a rope around it to hold it down, looks kind of tacky. Did you have to get wet to line it up? Water temp here is in the high 30's to low 40's.

Not too difficult if you dont have hitch too high (trailer not level). The worst thing that happened to me was trailer not in far enough (and tongue too high). As soon as I let off throttle, boat slid back past the bar. This went on for 5 mins until I jumped in truck and backed further into water. I plan to add a little flag that mounts on tongue. When I bump it, I am there.

No... I didn't get wet, but almost did. Water temp in the high 40's at the time. I used one of those ratchet tied downs now, but towed 1500 miles without (it bounced)

Get a winch braket and winch. Not hard to install(bolts) and a lot easier to mess with than those friggin hooks. You can get one from Cabelas or Bass pro.

yes, I know this is a little off topic

David, do you have a bigger picture of your boat? That looks like a killer paint scheme.

Maureen.... I don't have a good pic right now. Those colors are in the 'glass from Lavey. I soon will post a website with detail before and after pics. it's amazing how good it looks in person. Always wanted something like this and got it for a song.
    Best regards,

if you can go a little deeper, you just float the boat on and hook up the boat as it floats over the traile by a small amount. at least that the way we did it years ago with the flat bottoms.

I could do that easily Bob since bunks will keep boat aligned (somewhat) with tunnels. Might add a winch, but the looks of trailer won't be clean like it is now. This summer will let me know what I need to do. Thanks for the tip.

    Takes 2 people its FAST

You have your trailer backer inner guy or gal, back it in just right, then you drive it on as he or she spots you and hooks you up and you're gone.
