    Schuster Tahiti / Sanger boat

Hello all! I posted awhile back asking if I dhould buy a boat - no idea of maker and a lot more about it - -well I did it!

I am currently working with the Colorado State Parks system to see if they can do a reverse look up of the hull # to determine the manufacturer, etc on the boat.

I have seen some pictures that make we think it is a Schuster Tahiti. Does anyone out there have one of these? Does anyone know where I might find infromation on them? I can't seem to find anything on the net - -maybe I don't know what to look for?

I also have people thinking it might be a sanger - did snage make boats in the early 70's? Based on the pump in this one, that's about how old Berkeley thinks it is.

If anyone has any information, please pass it on

    Thanks again!

If you have a hull number, use this site to find the manufacturer. http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_database.htm

Once you are sure of the make, you can find info.

HIN'S started in 72. I just looked up my HIN, boy are they wrong. It said I started the Biz in 1976. Not so it was 1988. But old address is spot on.

I had a 72 Sidewinder that had the numbers stamped in the aluminum rub rail. They were on the right side in the rear.

Hey O.S.O., Was the serial number on the actual rub rail, or was it on the metal piece that capped the transom ? I'm missing that piece on mine, and there is no other stampings indicative of a s/n. Unfortunately, there was no 'tag' under the forward deck either.

It was a metal piece that covered the cap seam. Also served as a rub rail. Aluminum, about 1/2" wide. I had it off when I re-gelled the entire boat. I noticed the numbers when I was putting it back on.

Biesemeyer boats were built here in Arizona years ago. The even had a few tunnel hulls. They were the flat bottom mold with incerts clayed into the mold to form the tunnel. Rusty was the old guy that built them. And the one of the sons or something like that is building a "T Square" saw fence thing. They made one hell of a drag boat, and river racer with a V drive.

    Cyataz,

Awesome looking boat bit I think it is a Tahiti Brand name and not a Schuster Boat.

Tahiti Boats made a whole line of SK/SJ boats back in the late 60 throughout the 70s that would make a Schuster Boat look like a bath tub toy as far as performance.

As I understand Schuster bought a bunch of Over Stock Tahiti Emblems with the Tiki Head trademark Logo and used them on his boats.

The deck on a Lo Pro or Ski Boat was slightly different with the ridge running down the center of the bow.

Unless a lot of work and Stringers were added to a 16" Schuster one would have a heck of a time dropping that beast of a motor in one.

Sidewider did make an 18' Jet with a V8 but as I recall the 16 jets were a in line 4.

This is my 1971 Schuster Tahiti Torino when I bought it.

    Now with new interior.
