Aluminum rims, hubcaps and trailer tires.
Has anyone had slow leaks with thier aluminum rims? I found out aluminum corrodes over time and the bead needs to be cleaned up. For a boat trailer this seems too much bother. Not to mention the cost.
Anyone running cheap hubcaps to dress the steel rims up? Any problems?
Is there a ricer problem with using hubcaps on a trailer?
Any difference on cheap trailer tires and expensive ones? I don't have the need to put megamiles on the tires so they will probably dryrot before road wear. I understand there is a big diff between passenger tires and trailer tires though.
When I went to move my boat into the garage discovered the 'bad' tire is BADD!. Theres a hole in it big enough to argue with the compressor.'90 STV

I've had cars leak, pontiacs are famous for it...key is they do it when you don't drive them. If you drive it regular then they don't leak. I have stored one and it leaked and soon as I drove it...it stopped. It is corrosion in the bead. I have used hubcaps on trailers no problem. I even got a set for a 4x4 truck once, and I holesawed the center to fit the 4wd hubs, I am sure you could do the same if bearing buddies stuck out that far. They were plastic.
I don't know about trailer tires. I use old truck tires. They passed a law here against that now, but I still use them. I have used car tires for a trailer that weighed half what a car did loaded, like a small boat, but for nothing more. IMO a people tire is going to be better for its weight rating than a non-people hauling tire. If I have a trailer with trailer tires like something new, I would keep the same on it.
