    Caliber 1 Jet Boats?

Has anyone heard of Caliber 1 boats?

In 1993, they made a 18' Big Block Chevy / Berkley driven boat. Googled it and the information has been very limited.

If anyone has any information about this boat, I woulod appreciate it.

If you prefer, you can hit me privately at jdarst@hprcars.com.

    Thanks again

It's a West Coast boat, so probably not a lot of info on here. Go ask this on the Hotboat Forums as they are more prevalent out this way.

Don't know if they are around any more. We had a dealer here that sold them, in Scottsdale AZ. I did meet the owner years ago, forget his name now. But most of the boats built in Ca. are built or were built in one shop in River Side as I recall. The guy that shot my Gel shot the Cole,Caliber1, and others that I forget the name of. They all shared space in the same Industial Park. They are a nice boat used AME 4000, I think just in the skin at that time, could be wrong. The guy that did the gel coating was the step son of Jimmy Sullivan (Eliminator Boats) so he knew his stuff. You can't go wrong with one unless it has been beat on and torn up. Stock power solid 60 mph.

Where do you think the Cobra 1 came from? Sounded good at the time, 1990 some thing. Good luck.

    Caliber 1 boats

I have been looking for a jet boat for six months and I found a 1989 Caliber 1, 19 foot. Has a ls7 454 and a berkley jet. All original and in perfect condition.

Caliber 1 Boats is still in business, although pretty quiet these days. It is still located at 1884 Pomona Road, Corona, CA 92880 (951) 738-0880. The company was originally started by Cliff Lotz. Cliff is a fixture in the Southern California performance boating market -- he's worked for many of the top name brand companies for more than 20 years before opening his own operation. Cliff is no longer affiliated with Caliber 1 -- the present owner is Al Hussain. Cliff always built a very good boat -- solid -- and the workmanship was excellent. If the boat has had proper care, it should be a great buy.

I had a 19' that was a splash (copy) of an Eliminator Daytona. It wouldn't be fair to say that the quality wasn't as good as the Daytona, beacuse its hard to find ANY fault with a Daytona. But side by side it was noticible, but not by much. Mostly the Daytona was heavier and felt more "solid" in the water. Moral of the story: don't pay Daytona prices for the caliber, the resale value is much lower. When I sold the Caliber by sitting it in front of the shop, everyone thought it was a great price, until they realized it wasn't a Daytona. A good, solid boat though. TIMINATOR

    Caliber 1

I just brought the Caliber 1 jet boat home yesterday. Test drove it on the lake yesterday after some problems the first time last Saturday. The former owner had all the rocker arm studs and nuts replaced, valves adjusted and timing set. Now the boat runs great!!! Has a Berk jet with a loader grate, ride plate, mild droop and Jetavator (manual). I need to fix some of the trailer lights and I am thinking of putting a thermostat kit in it cuase it runs at 150 degrees. Boat has original gel, carpet and upholstery. I will post pics soon so you guys can check it out. Hope to have a lot of fun with this boat. Last boat was a 1970 Gaylord flatty with a Ford 390 and three dueces, never ran quite right and very hard to start and idle.
