What is the white Eddie Elderdge wing ??? Looks like it has had some hard miles. Kenny Kitson had a white and red wing with a fixed flap. It was his first wing. Wonder if this is it ??

I got a picture from Bob Massey's wife of this boat when he raced it. On the back it said sunk Havasu 1969, she did not recall anything about it.

Willabee: Who was 'Niels'---and what was the connection with Bobby Massey? Massey sure was active back then and certainly had caught the eye of Mercury. This a partial results of the Parker 1968.

You have to remember that 68 was about the time that this kind of racing was getting "factory". That' was when Mr. K decided he wanted to get all of the 18' Switzer Wings into his stable. Several independents already had one so part of Garbrecht's job was to try to secure the loose ones while keeping the others in Mercury dressing. Running against the inboards in the big marathons, Massey had the best finish of any of the outboard pilots. I'd have to look to be sure, but a 4th overall in 67(?) at the Elsinore 500 sounds right to me. He and Gary got along quite well ( I don't know anyone that didn't get along with Bob) and he was considered one of the premier Wing drivers. I only saw the "Niel's" boat a few times, a couple Parkers and a Havasu, something like that. Gary may have learned though conversation with the owner that they were getting out and probably made the arrangement for it to go to Massey. Bob's old white Wing was gettin' pretty tired about then ...... Pure speculation on my part, but probably not too far off. Another pic test .....

A test? Jan won the 1967 Gold Coast Marathon, the first year it was run in Biscayne Bay---the '6' indicates the GCM class---

Ya, a pic test! The test wasn't to see if anyone knew who was in the pic, I have a new computer and was trying to figure out how to steal the pic that mbd29 had posted and resize and post without going through a bunch of extra steps. ..... a pic test! BTW, are you trying to say Jan had a better finish than Bob?

Oops! Old barely describes it---I can repost Mike's great pics in a large format if anyone is interested---BTW, Bob wasn't there at the GCM 67---Ernie finished 2nd---I finished 3rd---in an old Magnolia----

I know that ..... I thought you might be trying to compare Jan's finish at Miami in 67 to Bob's at Elsinore ..... that would have been apples and oranges!
