Wrecked Wing .....
That boat looks like it might be the Beaver Patrol, an 18'er. I'm not positive, but it seems like Bill Olney was the owner (it does look like him in the pinkish coveralls with the hat). December 1968 may have been Salton Sea and he probably got hit or hit someone on the right rear. Probably one of those low profile inboards? It doesn't look all that bad in those photos, but I think Bill showed up at Parker that next March with a new 18'er, blue metalfake with silver and gold flake trim.

I hope someone brings a running wing to Tavares in November. When I started racing those boats were always around. Running marathons you just got used to having them pass you every lap or so. Now I would just like to see one running and get a little cell phone video.

Blue Wing .....
No, that's not the boat I had in mind. That's the blue metalflake I was thinking of, but it had that scalloped paint job like Threlkeld's boat (below), but where his gold is, the blue one had silver. Looks like Massey must have bought the "Niel's" boat. He not only has his #140 on it in the second pic, I'm sure the white lettering is his place of business, Bellflower Marine.

Parker 1967
I believe these shots are from Parker 1967 based on the dates of the back of the photos.

Those definitely are not OMC gear cases. If you look carefully, the gearcase is bolted to the cavitation plate as a separate unit.

The back of the strut area on those units are flat and there are round plates with what looks like Allen bolts holding them in place just above the prop shafts. What's up with that? I am guessing these gear cases were designed to be run only with surfacing props. That big flat trailing edge on the strut would cause instant blowout otherwise.
