...I have it on good authority that the G3 pictured above was in use as a garbage trailer a few years ago...

Yes thats the motor, had it shipped over last year. Had to put the right adapter and speedmaster on it, had a stinger gearcase. I was invited over after the motor was shipped. Had a good time with those folks, and came back with the 2TX in the photo. Found some interesting things . Shipping and customs was a bit rough, but it all worked out.

How about this one, this was taken last Febuary on Black Creek near Jacksonville, Fl. That is my little brother's boat with my Dad driving. My Dad is the only person I currently know of that: 1. Bought an 1100 SS all in pieces (block, crank, pistons, rods, heads, everything) from this dude and assembled it all in his basement and we put about 3000 hours on it, 2. Changed a lower unit for the boat in the picture just because the prop he wanted was frozen on the shaft, (and gained 12 mph in the process), and 3. made this 115 run like a top from about 3 different pieces of crap found at the salvage yard! Inlines rule.

    Rick:
Most that I have seen were unfinished, with the oil burned on them for that
blued/blackend look.. Some did get chromed, but most of the real race versions
    probably were not.

The red trimmed 1976 1500 has about 20 hours on it now since we brought it back from the dead (about a 7 year sleep). The blue trimmed one (1973 1500, older but definitely cleaner) just got out on the water today for the first time, and pumped water really good (we put new impellers in each before running them). Since it was a first run actually in the water instead of a barrel, we ran for about ten minutes, then idled to pull the cover off. The block felt hotter than I was comfortable with. The block on the 1976 1500 does not get as hot, that is for sure. The 1973 motor had plenty of power though, and sounded and responded great.

Also, I Noticed white smoke out of the shaft exhaust too when we went to idle. My friend now thinks he had too much oil in the gas, cause I asked him how much he put in, and it was too much for the amount of gas we bought.

Could to much oil make it run warm, and start blowing smoke out of the exhaust when we went to idle. I am thinking too much oil would lead to smoke at some point, as it would probably build up.

We shut the engine down, and then started it up a half hour later in idle, and all seemed fine. Just a short run that time.

Compression still great, and everything else seems fine.
