Diet Drinks
Wanted to pass this on as I was shocked when I learn the info.
I've read and heard that researchers have found that the carmel coloring, aka corn syrup or frutose, is high in calories and it kepts your body thinking that you're still hungry. This substance is found in stuff like your diet sodas but also in a lot of other common foods. Worst yet the body doesn't burn it off and it goes right onto your fat cells. I guess it's just another money maker for someone, like trans-fats, and that's why it's out there. Anyway as someone who works shifts and a lot of OT I would drink a lot of diet soda, for the caffine, and when I stopped drinking the junk about six weeks ago I noticed I lost that little bit of fat I had.INXS

Bad stuff!!!!
Not only that, but nutrasweet breaks down to methanol, then to formaldehyde and then to formic acid. I think I am correct... been a while since organic chem.
I guess I am close, here are a couple of links:
http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/
http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/embalm.html
Aspartame or nutrasweet is made by Monsanto... a huge company.. Think they have lobbyist?
I remember something about the concern for commercial pilots drinking too much of the stuff (all they do is sit all day), but I guess it was swept under the rug.
I drink lemon juice and ice water and ice tea w/ lemon if I need the caffeine.

Since I don't drink coffee I ended up becoming a diet pop junkie for a caffiene fix.
I can tell you that since quitting the stuff cold turkey, I feel 100% better.
Stop now, you may not realize how much effect it is having on you till you do
(I no longer fantasize about shooting the neighbors dog (jk))

Seriously?? I drink at least one 2 litre bottle of diet dew per day, sometimes 2!
My girlfriend has been telling me a bunch of stuff about aspertame, a sweetner in diet drinks too. I think a lot of it is internet lore, but one of her clients is a sports medicine dr and nutritionist for the bucs (insert joke for this season here), who confirmed tht stuff sucks. Damn!
Looks like I need a new source for caffeine

Yea fish you should really quit. One guy i worked with would drink the "GULP" at 7/11 every morning. Damn drink was his lunch! Anyways, that stuff is really bad for you. Once you get to drinking water you achually feel like its a refreshment. You also dont get so much "up and downs" during the day. It really is an easy thing to quit. Its only as hard as you make it!

diet pop
Hi. Soda is short for sodium this is salt, hi.salt intake causes fluid retention in the body, this in many people creates fast weight gane. Eliminating sugar alone is good ,butthe remaining colored salt water with flavour in my opinion is not. I like my fresh drinking water straight please. P.S.Initial weight lose is water eliminating from ones body . thanks.

I started buying fruit flavored water a couple months ago to keep in the house. Haven't bought any pop since. Watch for sales though.

Thanks
for the added info, I'm sure I'll go to the flovored water or the water with lemon. I really don't trust that nutri-sweet stuff.

I still drink diet soda. Since the regular stuff has such a huge amount of suger in it.
I just try to limit myself to no more than one or 2 cans per day. The huge amounts that many people drink of soda would be unhealthy even if it was fruit juice.

eliminatedsprinter, 2 cans is alot of coke for a day aswell. You would be alot better with sprite, 7up anything else that is clear. Coke is the WORST! They put so much extra stuff in there just to make it the color it is.

Anyway I'm not 100% into this diet bit but some effort results in much better results with my working out. Hell I can go to the gym a little less often and get even better results.INXS

Look At The Ingredients
I've been drinking Canada Dry diet Cranberry Ginger Ale which has no carmel coloring, the sugar subistude that your body doesn't burn and is stored as fat. Anyway their's a lot of other stuff on the label that doesn't sound nice!
Do a google on the book "You On A Diet", the book really deals with knowing what you eat and how your body deals with what you eat. Knowing the "Hows And Whys" makes a huge difference in your results.INXS
