KT Boats
Apparently there is still one KT boat left; the one hanging upside down in Clearwater. I'll have to check on it when I'm down that way.

yea, that thing is sweet... The GTO boys meet up at that quaker steak fairly often. They were asking me all kinds of technical questions about that boat (because I'm "the boat guy") like it was one of mine or something. LOL.

I have a dumb question. What's a KT boat? Anyone have a pic of one? What's the story behind them? Thanks. Smitty

LakeTrash has one and runs it.
On the By-U-Boyz site.
Was one that had twin in-lines on it.
He put a 502 in it w/a Speedmaster drive.
Didn't run.
Leaned on the 502 (can't remember if he super charged it or N2o) and got it to run about 100 I think.
He is now installing a turbine and surface drive.
I've personally seen the boat run.
It is huge!!
With what the owner has done to it in attempts to make it run it really, really makes me wonder about some of the performance/speed claims from it's era.
I think with twin in-lines on this boat it would have been lucky to see 60!
Neat class though.
Take an O/B tunnel and bolt on an I/O and a car motor.
Bob Nordskog was big into them (bottom left picture in 75H's post) back in the day. He ran one with a diesel for a while.
Remember one guy ran one w/a V-12 (Lamborghini I think) too.

Dick O'dea ran one in the 7 liter/Grand Prix Hydro classes....(a converted 20' Jones hull).... It did the biggest back flip I've ever seen at Valleyfield one year. Jim Caldwell built a 32' version for offshore racing and it killed a guy named Sky Gillespie.
Be very careful.

I seem to remember them being ET class boats for Endurance Tunnels. They used to run in Miami at the Mike Gordon races. Never heard them called KT?
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

ET 80 - Sasquatch
The ET-80 "Sasquatch" was owned by Art Williams. In 1994 it was driven to fame by Greg Foster in the Parker Enduro 500, powered by a Paul Pfaff big block chevy. Greg, who normally drove OPC tunnel boats, took an early lead and never gave it up despite a late charge by Ron Wilson and Todd Bowden, taking turns at driving duties in Fred Bowden's OPC tunnel entry.
The boat was purchased from the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Kent Washington by Best Wings (USA), the parent company of Quaker Steak & Lube.Last edited by Bob V; 11-24-2006 at 03:47 PM.
