Mounting Brucato PCU on stock ECU bracket-- how I did mine...

I can't fit any more damned wires or harnesses through my stbd side wire loom, and there's already too much stuff on the other side, so I decided to mount my new-to-me Brucato PCU on the engine.
(Thanks for your help on the phone Tony, and for sending me the correct fuel curve. )
I wanted to use the stock ECU bracket shock mounts, but they're permanently tapped into the aluminum base plate, and they're too far apart.

I cross-drilled the rubber shocks a couple more times with a high speed drill bit (stinky) to soften them up for the lighter electronics. I visited my local ASAP machine shop and they found a nice piece of 1/8" aluminum on the scrap shelf. They punched it to the size I needed, parts and labor, $10.

I ground a deep notch into the side of my adapter plate to clear the harness connector bracket, taking into account any flexing of the shock mounts. I drilled holes for the 3 mount studs, and four for the PCU. I rounded off the corners and cleaned up the edges, and did the sandpaper-twisty-thing to hide the scratches. I used stainless steel nylock hardware with thin washers to fasten the PCU to the adapter plate. I found that you have to grip the shock mounts gently with slipjoint pliers while tightening the nylock nut, then give it a little twist before fully tightening, to prevent any twisting of the rubber.

    Whadd'ya think?

Looks nice Pyro! I think there are more people than you think that would just as soon mount it in the stock location. I have been pondering the same things for my 260. The plan is to give the STV a PCU for Christmas. That was my dilemma "where to put the PCU" Have you had a chance to try it?

Cutting boards make great mounting material. I have used them too.
