24 Volt Trim on Production Trim System

I just bought a 225 Mariner SuperMag (same as Mercury ProMax) for my Allison and was planning on switching out the clamp bracket assembly to a High Perf unit as I plan on doing some bracket racing and felt that I needed the high perf trim system so I can run 24 volts....has anybody ever tried running 24 Volts to a production style trim assembly with the built in trim pump, etc.? Or, does anybody have any ideas on how to make the trim faster without switching out the clamp bracket/trim ram assembly?

The piece I have is really clean and since it's a Mariner, getting an actual Mariner piece is hard and pricey. Not to mention it would be lighter and cleaner to keep from rigging the in-boat trim pump, etc.

    Thanks.

Sam, The 3 ram is a bit faster than HP as it is. If you want even more speed it might be possible to re-wind the armature on the trim motor with heavier gauge wire. It gives you more power and TQ, but draws more amps and has a little less life, of course a trade-off like anythig else that gets more performance. I wanted to do mine that way but never got around to it before I got the new mota.

I ran it for a short while with 24 and the OEM motor. It did'nt last too long (was used anyway 10 years old) and got an ARCO replacement which was way quicker than the stock at 12v, someone else mentioned this on here as well.

    trim

    Sam,
I have a mariner as well with the tri ram system. I removed
the stock two wire trim motor and replaced it with a high
performance three wire motor part no. 18-6774. I also removed
the weak relay harness and installed two starter mag switches
on a bracket located in the boat. Ran a small dry cell battery
for the 24 volts supply to the up side only. I have ran this
system for the past four years with NO problems. Just my 2 cents.
