"Letters from Heaven" Miami 1960's

That picture was taken early in the race. I would love to have one taken after I had drawn down the 6 gallon gas tank in front of the steering wheel. The last 20 minutes the boat was aired out. Speaking of Hauptners here are a couple at the Marine stadium. #122 is Mark Hauptner.

Right. This picture is from 1970. That motor was the last 44ci motor to win Nationals in SE. I took most of 1971 off due to being on probation at work and could not risk an injury. By 72 when I returned in EP with a 3cyl 650 the OMCs had the upper hand in the production class. In 73 Bobby Druery and I managed to score 1st and 2nd at Nationals in Eufala but after that no luck. I put one of the newer 44s on this boat again in 74. The lower unit changes allowed me to run the propellers from my EP 650 with very good results for a couple of years in SD.

I don't know how you are able to blow up these pics so well. That picture of Joe Miller and I didn't look that good the morning it came out in the Miami Herald.
