good ole TPI. not all that impressive in its N/A form compared to the new stuff, its almost like its made for turbocharging. GM hot cammed l98, stock heads, 8.5psi, single turbo, 20 degrees total timing and pump gas... 500hp and 611lb-ft of tq TQ peak was 3800 rpm stock heads/cam are really piss-poor, the potential is there for MASSIVE power with a good pair of fast burn heads and better cam grind.

Greg Thats funny because I raced a syclone almost every thursday night for two years.I could see him in my side mirror every time

All kidding aside,I loved those Syclones and Typhoons when they came out.Very cool trucks.

Sure there is............ the platform itself is excellent. All it needs is a new GM crate 502 with a 6 speed and upgraded wheels and rubber and it's a world beater for cheap.

true, just that it was a UGLY car. I've ofter thought that would be a cool cheap project for a street vette. Big block, suspension upgrades, 6 speed, 18x10's. I'd pick a post 89 though, at least they were a little better lookin'

As you stated tpi falls flat on its face once you get up to around 3500. Most guys are doing like you said but switching to a hsr and ditching the tpi. The l98 heads weren't really piss poor, with some work they could make some decent power for a stock factory cast head. Another problem is the fact that you do anything serious, your gonna spend a LOT of time burning new custom proms for the maf system. They looked pretty cool under the hood though
