Try asking here. They have had so many problems with E-tec on this board that someone is sure to be able to help.

I'm sure any Merc dealer could help you out also.Better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Have you tried and other props? We had a 90 Evinrude and could never make it run right. Hung it on the board out back and it's still there even though the rack fell over. No one could make it run right, not even Evinrude. There is a place by Detroit Michigan that may be able to help you, they specialize in E-Tec and FICHT. If I find there info I will post it.

Check your engine height it should be with in a mile or 2 not what you are seeing. Did the dealer do the install and set up with a lap top to verify the engine?

The engine may need to be mounted higher on the transom. Was the Johnson the same shaft length as the new motor?

Does the Etec have any rpm restricting time when new? Seems to me the ecu could be keeping the rpms lower.

Rigging
My guess is the problem is with the rigging. However, there maybe other issues with it. Where are you located? We work on many E-Tecs, have seen most everything wierd they can do. Working on an E-Tec without a laptop is pointless, if the dealer you're dealing with can't "talk" to the motor, they are wasting your time/money. There are too many dealers out there trying to work on these motors.
