Checkmate Pulsare 2100 Max HP Increase
From what I have read online, it looks as if the maximum horsepower rating for this model (Checkmate Pulsare 2100) was increased from 250 to 300 sometime between model year 2000 and model year 2004. Anybody know why this happened? Has the hull changed? Mine is a 2000 with the 250hp limit (which sucks, because I really would like to put one of those 300 Optis on it.)

Put the 300 on it and badge it as a 250

I would contact Checkmate about that, they are very easy to get a hold of.
And discuss your options.
Boat should be able to handle it no problem.

The boat is over 20' and should not have a max hp rating as far the Coast Gaurd is concerned.
Good luck-
By the way their # is 419- 562-3881.

Thanks, guys. I have sent an e-mail via the "contact" form on their web site. If I don't hear from them within the next couple days, I will try contacting them by phone.

As usual, Checkmate replied almost immediately. Apparently the rating is just outdated and was intended to keep big V8s off of the boats back in the "old days." They upped the rating because engines are lighter now.
They offered to send me a new rating placard. My options just got much more interesting...
