I had that exact hull but it was a 1984? Marlin. I can't be for sure on the year. Been a long time. It had a set back Dominator pump that was blueprinted with a B impeller. Big Ford on Nitrous. Ran 10.50 et at 104mph. This was in 1993.

This is supposed to be a 1986 Mantra. I bought it for the motor and pump. The only hull ID is (RH 21). Race Hull? It's a 16 foot super thin lay up. It ran low 8's @ 119mph. One of the sponsors is Mantra Boat Co Ted Lowery 901-286-4988. I think this type of hull was used for racing only. I never have seen one of these at the lake.

Front view. It's hard to tell in the pictures but it is a tunnel hull.

I now have Paul Harvey's 'rest of the story' on where the original hull molds came from. there were two molds purchased from Eagle Boats in Memphis, TN, in 1974, and the very first Mantra Jet boat was delivered to a dealer in Baltimore, MD. If you have any other questions on the early days, I have reestablished the connection.

Information
Hi Fishin,
Greeting from Aus, really late reply by 8years I know.
I have just purchased a Mantra 1650 Missile, I believe it's 84 make. It has a 140HP 87 Evinrude on it, with foot control for throttle and trim tilt.
It would be great if you could tell me about Mantra in the mid 80's and how they are made.
Thanks!
Riley

G'day Riley!
8 years for sure, how time flys!
My uncle Chuck sold Mantra boats in 1978 so unfortunately I don't really know much past that time other than the last I knew they were last located in Tennessee not far from Memphis.
Post a picture, let's see what she looks like.

I may be able to answer any questions you have about Mantra boats made in the early years in Dyersburg tennessee. I worked for mantra and did all the assembly on those boats from the mold to the trailer. I left the company right before it was sold to Ted Lowery. While I was working there all Boats were hand laid, no Chopper gun. Feel free to ask any questions.
