New low cost ECU alternative!
The Brucato Advanced Control Unit (ACU) is designed to be a replacement for your stock ECU on select Mercury outboards.
At only $1025, the ACU costs hundreds less than a new Mercury ECU.
The ACU will be programmed with a fuel curve for your engine and includes a mounting bracket for direct replacement. Nothing else to buy!
Curves and mounting brackets are available for these applications and many more:
150, 175, 200 HP EFI; 150, 200, 225 ProMax; 220 Laser, 2.5 Drag, 2.4 EFI,
F1 Motor, 260 EFI We can supply custom fuel curves and rev limits.
You can read more about the ACU at http://brucatosvs.com/acu.html
or you can call me @ 919-718-0249Last edited by Tony Brucato; 06-10-2010 at 07:21 AM.

I think it looks like a great product...and I like the fact that it still has some user adjustability...whereas the factory units do not.
Any plans for a similar unit for the 3.0 litre EFI's?
Good luck, I wish you success. Any development on pre-1998 stuff is a bit of a gamble as more and more boaters start to switch over to cleaner and more fuel efficient motors (which do not legally lend themselves to tinkering or adjustment beyond factory settings).
But if your units improve fuel economy as well as driveability as claimed, this may give a new lease on life to older engines out there.
Keep up the good work.

This looks really good Tony, I have been eyeing a PCU but dont have the time or energy or know how to tune it properly (Im a new age car guy), so this ACU seems like its the best compromise.
I have a 1987 Merc 2.4L 220hp Laser, what kind of gains are you seeing with this style of motor (maybe not laser injected, but what gains in general)?
I am debating whether to have my engine rebuilt or scrap it and get a new Evinrude E-Tec 225 HO instead, but 15+K is expensive for a 20yr old boat. Know any good engine builders in the Seattle/Tacoma/WA state/N. Idaho areas?~Erik~

Once you go with the PCU/ACU, you'll never go back to a standard ECU again.

try and call mercury and talk to someone about what you want to do with your motor and have them put the right fuel curve in for your application.. ha good luck..

I have a merc 200, 3.0, 2002 mod. Is it as simple as replacing the old ECU with an 250 ECU to get the last 50 hp? or do i have to do other adjustments?

Private message Tony at the top of this thread. Just left click his name above and the private message option will show. By the way welcome to Scream and Fly. I have this unit and if you by direct from Tony yes you just unplug your and plug in his that simple. Im not sure if your motor is copatable though? I think its just for 2.5 lt not 3.0 lt but I may be wrong on this. Thats why I say PM Tony himself and ask in case he doesnt see this thread its kinda an old thread. 2006. God Dag.
