Pete,
No the engine is not locked up. I was just acting out my frustrations. It actually did exactly as you said it just shut down. Once I found the small line that was leaking, I fixed it and the engine started right up and ran fine.
Don't think I did any damage, but I am going to have it checked out to make sure before I use it again.
Thanks for all of your help though.

Head torque
This is what I use...........copied from a Jay Smith post.....
Head Torque
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I never use that 90 degress crap, that the BEST way I know of to pull threads out ! I use antiseeze on the threads and light machine oil on the bolt head and washers. Torque to 30 * first tightening in an X pattern starting in the middle and working my way out making the X larger and larger till complete the sequence. Then repete the same procedure at 36* on fishing low compression motors and 38* on Hi Compression motors . Run them for a couple of break in sessions( 1 hour on hose and couple hours at low RPM's ) then retorque with the same X pattern! Has worked for me in the past.......

I won’t do the 90-degree thing either. I just torque them to 40 lbs. or the threads can pull out when they get hot.

torque
The 90 degrees more after 30 lbs is for new uncompressed headgaskets only. Mercury does not understand why someone would want to re-use a perfectly good head gasket or any other perfectly good gasket or part ever and always refers to new stuff. The head gaskets can be re-used many times (at least 10) and should not be torqued like the book says to do a new one. I find that after you have torqued them all to 30 then bring them to 38-40 and they will seal and not risk pulling threads or snapping bolts. --- mike

My opinion is that the injection system is built in such a matter that if oil supply runs out, the engine will be shutted down BEFORE anything major happens...
But i've seen also major destructive situation when the oil sensor was not working AND the engine was fried, bearings, cylinders and piston wise...
