Mirage, vs. Mirage Plus, Interesting tests....
Hello all,
Just curious if anybody has some feedback on my test results tonight.
I have a 23" Mirage old style, cupped to 100,000, that ran 67.2 MPH but over-revving a 454 Magnum @ 5200-5300 RPM. Good hole shot, good prop, just a bit to high in revs, and would like just a bit more speed. This prop, when worked, had the polish finish taken off, supposedly would bite bitter with the non-polish finish.
So, i tried a 25" Mirage Plus, first generation without the PVS system, but a Mirage Plus, non the less, (polished finish). It ran 64.2 MPH, with the same weight of gas, and only revving 4550 RPM. It is only 1 size difference. Are the Mirage, and Mirage Plus, really that different ? that's basically 700 RPM and really more then that because i had the 23' cupped so it would bring the RPM's down abit.
Any feedback, would be appreciated. The boat is a 23' Phazar with a 454 Magnum, and a Bravo 1 drive with nose cone.
Thanks everyone,
Shawn

I did a 1 to 1 comparison with my 32 Sunsation and the Mirage Plus were .8 mph faster, so I stuck with the old Mirages.

If you are talking about the BARRETTA Phaser, (23 foot), I had one with a 350 that would only run about 60 MPH , (no GPS then).
My buddy bought it from me and put a 454 w/ just under 500 HP in it.
79.6 GPS with a 28 Hydromotive.
It looked like a totally different boat at those speeds, looked like the Hydrostream way up on the pad, almost no boat in the water.JOHN MASON
