I have a 2005 CR 17 and I run it on Puget Sound and coastal pacific waters with a fair amount of current and tide.
This is a damn fine boat. It is superbly made, handles like a dream and hauls ass with a tiny engine. Goes well in rough water as well (with trim tabs to stuff the bow down a bit at speed and a lid on to keep the spray out of your face).
A very happy customer. I can firmly recommend Sparky's stuff- this guy knows what he is doing.
Still grinning and waiting for another weekend to go play again....

The bag..........
Can you reuse the "bag" and resin lines ? I've always wondered about this. You must be one of the only small boat manufactures going through this process. Beautiful work. Mike

Great workmanship & progress pics!
What thickness & type of wood do you guys use for the bulkheads & transom knees?... 3/4" standard plywood, marine ply, etc?
Thanks,
Dan

30'cat infusion
Great work guys I will be building a new 30' offshore race cat.Was wondering what kind of benifts in terms of weight and strenth i can expect if i go the infusion way.Im going to order a 4hr long dvd off the net to get a more indepth understanding of the process.I was curious as to how you infuse with core in place? Was thinking of doing it in two fases.
Would like to talk with you via phone and see what i could learn from you guys.Maybe could interest you in a trip to the carribean!!!
If you could email me a contact me via email with a contact #

Hi all,
I just stopped by Vicious to say hi to the new 17 CR.Well Sparky slipped in another great idea. He took the open compartments behind the tanks in the sponcen area back to the transom and made Two storage compartments out of them.Very cool and a great way to get me some room to store stuff.
I plan to trim them out befor the deck is put on.One will be for anchor storage and the other side maybe a cooler or something else.
Keep a lookout for more pic comming. Thanks

Hey Sparky,
I used a 4 stroke Yamaha 115 and after a lot of screwing around with props the Yamaha brand 20 pitch 4 blade stainless worked best. It is underpowered but I don't know what the hell I am doing yet. Damn quiet sort of stealth boat. Sorry, I chickened out and didnt stick some huge ass motor on it (yet)...
I put a small stumpy windshield on it which helps keep the salt spray out of the cockpit- works great, but doesn't look great (I am not talented at this sort of stuff)- any idea of folks who fabricate sexy looking stumpy windshields?
I love the boat. I will try and take some pice and post them.

A friend of mine had a deep vee and the wind hit you right in the face. You could hold your hand sideways against the top of the dash (no windshield) and it went over your head. That gets old at 80mph, and it had standup bolsters so you really could not move around elsewhere. So he had these pieces of nylon, or colored plexi stuff(?), made: They were about 1/4" thick and he had them bent to the angle he wanted so it was about 3" high lip and then 3-4" laid on the top of the dash, maybe 2' long piece on each side of boat or so. We put auto trim 3M foam tape on the back and stuck them on. They worked great and with white like the boat you didn't notice them much. He did have to add pockets to the cover to fit them. When he sold it he took them off and they didn't leave a mark. You just heat that stuff and you can bend it, but I don't know who bent it for him or if he did. The bottom was the angle of the fake windshield/dash, and the upper lip leaned back at maybe a 30 degree angle if that. However I don't know about using clear material.
