Hondo Jets?
Anyone else here running one of the Hondo Pantera jet boats? Mine's a 455ci Olds with a Berkeley. It's mainly used at Pitt Lake, near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Sorry I'm running the "ski 18" , what's your bottom like ? does it have the delta pad? Just curious to know the differences

Hi Matt,
Ah, you know more than me just from your question. What is a "delta pad" and how does it affect your speed and ride? Mine is a semi-v hull, and that's really all I know, aside from the fact it's got a great ride and takes a nice set at speed. And, it's a heck of a lot of fun.

I don't know nearly as much as i want to know But as I understand it (please anyone correct me if i'm wrong) The bottom of my boat comes down to a V in the bow area but as it goes to the rear the point of the V goes flat and turns into a pad. Now this pad is contoured somewhat it is not perfectly flat but it is close to flat. I'm sure the theory behind it is to get the boat to ride up on that pad and get the rest of the boat out of the water. I would love to hear any input anyone may have. It's a 1974 ski 18' but I suspect it's a splash of something else. Who developed these 18' bubble decks? How much does the hull weigh? How fast can I safely push it? I'm currently hunting down 80 and it's ultra stable

Hondos are very popular and $1k is a good, maybe great price (unless it is a basket case). I'm pretty sure they were made in So Calif so you are about as far away from their home turf as you can get! Congrats to both of you on your boats. You can find a lot of Hondo owners at socaljetboats.com
