3 blade laser II prop or 4 blade offshore?
Can someone help me make a decision on props?
I need a new prop and have found 2 that I like.
1. 3 blade SS Laser II prop 19p ($100 or bo)
2. 4 blade SS Mercury Offshore prop 19p ($125)
Boat is a 2000 lb 24 degree deep vee hull with no pad.
Engine is a 1989 200hp Mercury all stock and hanging on the transom with a 25" shaft. Stock lower unit.
Boat had a 19p Lazer II all its life and it worked great. No blow out, good all around prop. I was about to buy the Laser II again, but came across the offshore 19p. I am assuming the blades on the offshore will be smaller.
Here is the question. What will I gain, if anything with the 4 blade?
Thanks for the replies...

At those prices, if they look REALLY good, I'd buy both and resell the one I didn't like!!

airdog.. having a similarly weighted and propped hull with my fissin boat i will tell you that the 4 blade will be better all around but may not have the top end if you need serious bowlift.. the offshore is an excelent prop and is basically a low rake large hub trophy.. diameter on the offshore is same as the 19 laser 2 so blades are roughly same size.. i would go 4 blade if you want the best of all worlds the only problem i have seen on the OB with the offshore is a slow holeshot due to no venting.. add some vent holes and they pop up like wild fire.

I have both of these props in a 21 pitch and am about to do a comparison. Just need a washer for the LaserII. I do turn the 21 Offshore at the same rpm as a 19 pitch Mirage plus but 3-4 mph faster. Hull is a 22 degree Concept center console 2900 pounds with motor dry weight.

Mr. D - was the laser any better for your boat? I have a mirage 19plus and I just bought a offshore 21 to try out. I'm interested to see if you get better performance from the laser.
My boat needs some sternlift, so Laser probably isn't going to work . . . but I'm interested in your results.
