6500 for sure, but most say up to 7000.

this is a controversial subject. you will hear responses from 7000-8500+ depending on your application. if it's for a fishing motor then 7-7200 would be safe. just my opinion.

Depends on whose cast pistons you are refering to, I've turned mine quite higher than 6500 once or twice

Mercury warranties them to 6800.. I'm with some of these other guy's, I'd push them to 7-7200 if my tune was sharp... Anything over that and I'd by forged...

Cryoed or not I wouldn't turn a 2.5 cast piston over 7000 very many times. 2.0L can go higher, the piston is much lighter. I have see 100s of cast pistons fall apart at high RPM. Either the shirt collapse or the wristpin rips out.

Five out of six cast pistons will handle 9500 RPM for the life of the engine.

I bet Linda toll U that one .....
Put cast pistons in a motor, turn it over 8K, and take bets on which one gives up first, and how big tha hole will be!!!!....wit 6 cyls, U could make enuff money ta buy anuther block, and sum good forged pistons!!!
