    Strange Find

    have found in amongst a lot of old gear casings a sst 120 mid section housing . does anybody still use this ? what is it worth ? just wondering..

    A lot of people like the champ mids for drag racing and lake hotrods also. Curious why it's described as SST120 though? Aren't they all the same in a given year.

    hey raceman i was told sst was abb for super short trunk is this correct or is he telling me bulls8it.?

    I guess it depends on whether he's tryin' to insult you or describing a Merc. (sorry that was just too good an opportunity to pass up)

    Anyhow, basically SST meant Super Stock (I think) and the powerhead was different from the F1 or Mod U motors. I believe all the SST's ran carbs and over the years they've had SST120 and SST140 if my memory serves (which it frequently doesn't these days) I think a lot of the SST boats run the smaller VI Speedmaster, while the F1's usually run the IV's which are stronger, but of course that makes no difference in the mid section.
