what kind of ratios are you running with this oil...2.5@8500rpm?

I dont know the ratio.....
It is a Volvo Penta 5.7 GXi with a duoprop DPX leg.

Just by fiddling the oils I have gotten just over two miles an hour faster. ( the engine runs at 5000 dead with a slightly modified E2 prop set )

I got 77.6 miles an hour one way over a 1 kilometer run and 75.77 miles an hour average speed over two passes of the kilometer run at the Conneston record attempts October 2005.

At Windermere in 2004 the fastest speed I got was 75.2 one way, the best average was 74.25 miles an hour.

It also helps to run the oil level low in the engine.

Hi guys!!
Is Alisyn good for any motor and model. I have a mercury 115 model 1986. I am rebuilding it at the time and I would like the rebuild to last a long time. Any words of wisdow.

Ron, Alisyn is great for any two stroke engine. If the engine is a fresh rebuild, just make sure you break in the engine on regular Mercury oil though.

Thanks I will do that. I have to run a couple of tanks at double the ratio and then I will give it a try. I can put the gear lub. in my lower unit antime right!!

Yes, you can use the synthetic gear lube anytime. Look at it this way - I run Alisyn 2-stroke and lower unit oil in my Merc 25 and 9.9.

Two questions.....in the fall I will be buying the new 175 PRO XS ..... would it be smart to use the Merc Optimax/DFI oil for warranty reasons instead of the Alisyn oil, or wait a while till the engine is good and broken in? And is the Alisyn oil really that much better? I know how nit picky manufacturers can be during warranty claims.......which I hope I'l never need. Ok...three questions, can you buy extended warranties on Merc engines, I've seen sometimes manufacturers offer an extra 2/3 years for a sales promo or because this engine is a hipo it would'nt be offered, thanks for the info......Dave

1) Please use Merc recommended oil during the warranty period. That is always safest (from a warranty standpoint).

2) Our Alisyn ProPower and Alisyn ProGear Type I are far superior to anything else on the market. The ProPower is designed to minimize engine wear and reduce smoke signature. There is a marked difference between motors that have used our product their whole lives and everything else. Just ask members of this forum.

3) The ProGear Type I is a less than zero weight gear oil that carries heavier loads than 75W-90 gear oils. The lower viscosity oil, used in your lower unit, will free up anywhere from 1 to 3 % more power to your prop. This will translate into a higher top end.

If you are a high performance boater you will definitely appreciate the difference our products make. We do not pitch our Alisyn product line to casual boaters, but focus on the true performance sector.
