We were already in the know. The info was in a number of places out there. The point is discussing that information.

If Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal can publish rumors about upcoming Apple products written by their own journalists, surely a bunch of rednecks can provide user-generated rumors about upcoming Mercury products on S&F.

Publishing copyrighted materials, say the sales brochure, is one thing.

Publishing that people who have been at Lake X say that there will be a V8, and that it will be the greatest marine engine of all times, and that it will weigh no more than a 300xs, is something else...

Ive been watching this thread ever sense Glenn started it and I held off posting because I wanted to see where it would go. It kinda took a turn like I thought it might. Back on August 7 2012 myself and two others had a frivolous law suit brought against us. We were stating facts about a POS banned X member on here that was hacking up more stuff than Carters got Liver Pills and selling to members on here. It literally cost us several thousand Dollars to combat and eventually have it dropped but not before 8 months of legal activity had passed. Greg and Screamandfly got brought into the mix as well. After that the other two members completely faded away. I remained loyal to the site but extremely cautious as to what threads I participated in. If some ass hat posted I stayed clear of any activity. I have without a doubt made alot of close friends and met alot of extremely knowledgeable people because of this site. Way to many to mention each and everyone but they know who they are and alot have posted on this thread. Greg does a fantastic job in keeping this site up and running and Im proud to be able to call him my friend!! Chaz (Charlie Cullotto) also being one of them. We have worked closely on some TOP secret projects together and I without reservation say our talents compliment each other. But in going over all 14 pages of this thread Its Page #7 Post # 97 that struck that first nerve. After that post the thread seemed to get derailed and is a perfect example of one of the very reasons Im not as active as i used to be. I have seen alot of people come and go over the years. Some I hated to see go, Some I was Glad and some id like to see gone. In commenting on the Topic one has to Look back over the years. The caliber of people that once frequented this site vs the ones that now frequent it. The whole tone has changed from the way iot once was without a doubt. In closing I will say this. One doesnt become a sponsor of my race boat team without earning it. And Im proud to say that Chaz (Charlie Cullotto's) business is displayed as a sponsor on my Drag boat for the 2018 race season. I would have to agree! I'm new to ScreamandFly and absolutely despise Facebook! I do think us 2 stroke fans and 4 strokes could have enough to say about both though. Here to become enlightened. haha

Just saw this response on a FB page about Fountains mew cat out trying to run a big number today. This is the kind of thing that makes me wonder. Someone said how its really hot outside and it would be hard to pull a big number. This was the response:

"The humidity slicks up the water, should be running faster"
13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"
    13" Modified Yamaha V4 - 101 mph

    21' Paramount
    Mercury 300 Promax

The engines run worse in hot weather but the slick water makes up for it, everything makes much for sense now.

Ive lurked around here for a long time, I once stated that a two blade prop I ran a 115 short shaft merc was one of my favoritr props. I got attacked right away by one of the gurus on here that everyone looks up to that I was nuts to think a two blade was a good prop compared to others. At the the time I thought screw you you egotistical prick. I was just stating MY experience with it. it was a fun prop.

Opinions vary on just about everything. In the 70's I had some really fine 2 blade bronze props. Old school stuff can be good. Def. usable props even now.

Eh, I remember when putting a v6 on a viper was a instant death sentence. A few of us took it way beyond that.

I remember I thought my 89 3.0 looper was a stout go fast engine. A dozen 2.5, few 300x and a few 300xs later I had much diff perspective

Personally I think what Greg has accomplished it pretty unique here. How many forum based websites have we seen blow up over the last 20 years – doesn’t matter if it were boats, cars, motorcycles, cigars, whatever.
The success of this website has been because it evolved. Any other website I have been on that blew up usually did because it never changed. The interface wouldn’t change. The ‘old guard’ would scare off new members. Trolls would take over. The ‘fees’ outpaced the value. Facebook groups would make the site obsolete

Somehow, Greg has managed to avoid all that. Personally, I look at this site as kind of a ‘gated community’ If I post here…boat people respond with boat answers. I put it on facebook, and somehow my aunt is asking why I am down a cylinder. For a public site….it has a little bit more privacy.

And yea, it has changed, but people’s priorities tend to do that as they get older. When I first got into performance boats, I was 24 years old and was keeping my activator running on spare parts I dug out of my mechanics throw away piles (as were many of the other guys I knew at the time, they were literally ‘in the same boat’). I didn’t even own a boat for about 6 years (married, house, kids, etc). Priorities change, people move, they sell the fast boat and get a barge……sometimes they even lose the interest.

So maybe its different…maybe four strokes are taking over, maybe people are moving towards big 4 engine center consoles, but I think this site still is the gauge upon which others should be judged.
