Yeah those numbers by DAVID are interesting. I've seen lots of boat wrecks and have replaced lowers and mids on many bass boats that hit submerged logs up in the delta. The cali delta here is FULL of stuff floating downstream cause the watershed is so extensive. Logs and stuff float like 6" below the water line and you never see them...That being said I never seen a motor that landed in the boat. I am not one to say it CAN'T happen and obviously it does cause there is research and all those reports. I just don't see how it is likely to happen. Small HP motors like a 25 yes. I know a guy who lost steering and rode his 19' eliminator up to the top of a levee at 90 mph with 4 people in the boat...his motor did not end up in the boat.

Maybe it happens more at lower speeds where there is not enough force to shear the lower off?

It certainly doesn't "happen all the time"... I mean, they've collected a few reports from each year when there are millions of hours of boating done. But, I think it's foolish to say, "It'll never happen" when clearly it does happen once in awhile and people do get severely injured or killed.

I'm not advocating for this product, but I have seen (pictures) at least 2 instances where the motor did come up into the boat. One hit the back pedestal seat, the other hit both driver and passenger. Both were modern bass boats. This could be viewed the same as insurance...it's no good until you use it.

Forget the $300, call a shop that makes custom slings or tie down straps, they can make one a lot cheaper and custom length to fit you needs. Put in a 1/2" lifting eye on either side of the motor and a couple shackles.....

or find something at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/DD-Sling-Vert...07C26M3SV?th=1
