Why all the laborious work and extra expenditures?
Is it because the 1500 engines were more available and reliable, then the older 800 engines?
And also did he desire, that old white cowling look to enhance his vintage rig?

I admire his dedication and final craftsmanship, but what a comment to undertake.

Besides having available parts i`m sure the dude just wanted to go faster than the 800`s would go. I don`t blame him.

Without looking it up, I would think the BMW boxer is the longest running family of motorcycle engines in history.

We all have heard of them, but in 55+ years of spinning wrenches this is the first "black box" I've seen.

14 years after Harley first twins 1909 (single 1903) 1923 on BMWs. And they STILL have a dedicated following like HD.
