It is obvious the Doug wright's perform well and i think they are very pretty boats but I was amazed with the damage to the CMR boat. I know if weight is the same the skater might be behind in speed some but the fact that the Steele boat has raced for like 15 seasons and is still in one piece speaks alot about build quality.

saw where Torente blew the nose off his boat at Sarasota last weekend , the guy destroys boats on a regular basis , hmm
most overnite successes usually take at least 10 years

Ryan,
who is working on Gary B.'s boat that rolled over. Has the motors been pickled?

Gary's boat has been Sold to the driver, it is now in Canada, being repaired and will also be in St Clair.
Of course the motors were pickled, they had them running that afternoon.....

What has happened to all the new Doug Wrights? The older 05-10 models didn't self destruct at the first big wave.
It does look like 1/2 of bondo and 2 layers of carbon?
Instead of adding lead, and taking $$$, maybe APBA should start making some lamination schedule requirements.

It is a bad situation. Looks bad for the builder and the customer. One of those times when there will probably be a lot of finger pointing and likely never know the whole story. One side of the story is the boat is bad. The other side is you asked me to build it that way. Maybe both is true. No telling.
Anyway the lighter boat allows the team to be more flexible in adding the remaining weight required by the rules. One clear benefit it allows you to put it lower in the boat making it turn better.Jim
