I know that Randy used to sell a lot of Checkmates but not sure what happened this past year.

What is going on with Checkmate? I thought that Hustler had bought some of the molds after bankruptcy but I don't know if they are building the smaller boats.
Yes, that's the boat. If I remember correctly he ran a 98.1 a couple weeks later with a different prop. Checkmate is now owned by Global Marine (Hustler Powerboats) and are being built at Checkmate's factory in Bucyrus, Ohio. Kip Combs, the founding owner's son, is still working at the factory. They also do factory refurbishing on older Checkmates to bring them back to life!

Glad they are back up and running. Is it true that the Pulsare 2100 design was first brought to market in 1994 and has been consistent ever since?

Shouldn't Velocity come off the "Fastest SOB Hulls Available For Purchase New In 2015" section ?
Don't see the 22 listed on the Regal site and Velocity shut their doors earlier this month

That could create an interesting scenario 22. Is the nail 100% in the coffin for Velocity? Would hate for that to be the case with Velocity holding two spots on The List

I think the Velocity has to come out of the new category, word has it there done. As far as the checkmate, weren't these SOBs in like a class 7 category? Otherwise we should add Allison's, then the whole list changes.

Greg, you are correct. The Pulsare 2100 came out in 1994 and has been in the Checkmate lineup ever since. The biggest change to the boat was made a few years back when they developed the innerlined cockpit. The hull has not changed at all! Good running boat..fast and a blast to drive!

Anyway, a couple of you asked about the RPM data on the 300XS motors that folks are running in stock form to get there top speed numbers for The List. Below is some information. I'm not exactly sure what Dave Bush is referring to when he says "all the different electronics" as a stock 300XS is a stock 300XS and that guy knows the motors as well as anyone on the planet. Perhaps 6400 should be lowered to 6250 WOT.

Also, goneby had great success with his XS set-up so maybe he will drop by and comment on his rpm findings with his family friendly Progression 22 that he clocked 94mph on GPS with.

It's nothing like the rev limiters in all the 2.5s and 3.0s I've had. At least with the stock ecu, you'd better prop your rig to not exceed 6,350 - or just not keep your foot in it on the big end.

Depending on what tach and all the different electronics it hits very hard at 6400 and tries to beat thru to 67 with short gearing ... just stay out of there or bump up the limiter if you like short props or can pull a large one to 6500..6700

Jupiter, do you have any experience by chance running any of the hulls on The List as compared to the Pulsare 21 in rough water? What is outside freeboard and what is the distance from the innerlined floor to the top of the gunnel at the drivers bucket?

Greg, I've owned 2 Pulsare 2100's, a 22' Velocity, a 230 Velocity I/O and I've driven the Superboat/Challenger/Rally Sport numerous times. I don't have measurements from the floor to the top of the gunnels on the boats but I can tell you that the Pulsare is ligher and faster than the Velocity power for power but the Pulsare is harder to handle due to the narrow pad vs Velocity's wider pad. The Pulsare will give you a softer ride than the Velocity but on the Velocity it's very easy to feel the boat climb up on the pad and get loose. The Superboat/Challenger hull has alot of complex curves in the bottom..fun to drive with a good solid feel to the boat but I don't think they're as fast as the Checkmate power for power. The Pulsare dry hull weight is 1375 lbs. Compared to all the Hydrostreams, Action, Allison, etc. V-bottom boats all the boats mentioned (Pulsare, Velocity, Superboat) have higher freeboards, deeper V's, more weight and will give a much better ride when the water gets snotty...they may not be as fast power for power, but at least they'll stay together!

I cant understand why Randys 98.1 on video with a full interior and back seat and radio hasn't countd. He has done 97 in multiple boats that are new and for sale. Oh and they are not custom made, special light weight, one off boats that he is using!

Fair question for the S+F tribunal Don. One big correction though...........

None of the boats in the rough water Super Six are custom made or "one off" builds. They are all production models. Also, to make The List, you must have a full family friendly interior.
