Well,a couple things new. The balsa top sheet cover under the dash is done. The second coarse of balsa in the pad got set today. A note worth mentioning, while looking things over yesterday I noticed some fairly big air pockets!I had rolled my work many times with the metal fin roller? So I've got a couple of options, ether grind them out and patch, or something I learned a long time ago.I went to farm and fleet and got a couple of large animal siringes,my plan, drill a pinhole and fill the void with resin. Ive done this in the past and 3-5CC will fill most, preferable to grinding out and patching. So I drilled carefully, and nothing but glass and CABOSIL! Then the lights came on.When removing the the core most of it was as good as new,so when it came up a lot of it brought the first layer of glass mat with it,leaving a "divit" So I made a paste of epoxy,CABOSIL and milled glass fibers and filled them. What I was seeing is the white paste under the glass not air.I did find a couple and filled them.Point is if you use a filler don't mistake it for air. Tomorrow, more balsa in the rear.

I'm beginning to think you just might know what you're doing ! My guess is it'll be a great platform for a 400 R !!!

Terrible job. EVERYBODY knows balsa is NO GOOD. In 75 or 80 years that hull will be nuthin but junk

This thread is full on win! I like the idea of cutting the square sheets to make under the deck installation manageable. It is very tight under the dash I am sore just looking at your work, which is going at a great clip btw, im certainly impressed.

I bagged mine up there all in one section and then put one layer of glass all over that once the core was in. YOU AIN'T KIDDING ITS TIGHT! I ended up spilling my container of resin when I was starting to wet the glass over the core, I came out from under there looking like a porcupine with glass hanging off my arms!

Like the wife says "Bob just another one of your screw ups your kid will have to fix someday" LF the smaller pieces made it fairly easy to do the under dash area and the ridges of double 1700 don't hurt ether. The next piece I'm not looking forward to.One single piece of 50" of 1700 from the transom to the dash. And RJ you are not alone I got what's left of 20oz left behind my left outside stringer
