25 years ago Kevin Desmond invited me to join his “Electric Record Attempt “—— I never ever thought that they were cApable of even 60 mph.-___
I have been known to make the wrong call now and again!
Congrats and well done to Peter Dredge and his team.

Don’t worry about it Bob——-
Phill puts three sugars in his tea, doesn’t stir it, then complains it doesn’t taste sweet.
You have to experience a three day French wedding (south Carolina bride, and a French groom) ! Believe me it’s an event you will remember all the days of your life.
Day one started off with a boat trip through SETE—— (the only way to do it) it’s like Venice but nice.
Big drinks and then an oyster festival in the evening accompanied by unlimited drinking and eating,
Wine, Whisky and water, all served in the grooms mothers oyster
shed. I left before midnight—— had more than my fair share of BUSHMILLS, oysters taste better with malt whisky.
Wedding today——- day two of the festivities. Still no internet so doing this on my iPhone—— problem is—- my podgy fingers——
Thats
it? I have to leave for a wedding.

I went back and looked and you are correct. It appears that Michael Bontoft set the world speed record for an electric powered boat on December 10, 2008 at 98.8 mph. So why is the Jaguar crew claiming a world record at 88.6 mph ??

Maybe its a record for an electric motor powered boat, that can sound like any kind of turbine or jet engine sound effect of your choice, like in the video?

To funny but I have to agree on the sound in the video. Like some of the new cars that have performance exhaust sound comng through the cars stereo.

Lady who owns the house we’re staying in, commissioned me to do a piece right off the top of my head
“BIRTH OF A RACE” was one of the first efforts.
Over 100 people were at wedding ceremony in the town hall- then we were transported to the ruined abbey St. Felix De Montceau at Gigean. It’s been deserted for 500 years———doesn’t have a roof but the acoustics are superb——- loads of concerts and classical events held there. Big eats and lots of wine.
Then onto the vineyards of Domaine St.Andre on the Route De Marseillan —— very celubrious setting,
North Carolina relatives held their own until 10:30pm then began to flag a little—— first course of a five course meal was served at 23:00 hrs———- cheeses were served at midnight—— by this time I was on my knees——— threw in the towel around 12:30 and headed home——-end of day two—— justone more day!

Yup—— it’s all over ! The three day wedding of a Frenchman and a girl from south Carolina is finally over and done.
Midday Sunday was the start of a Bar b que for 100 guests ——— red, white and rose, beer and spirits flowing like niagara ———— more food than you could imagine.
Marquee in the back garden ——- 80 degrees with a breeze coming in off the Med. Perfect conditions.
We were out of there by 4:30.
Had enough of weddings to last me a lifetime———
Just found out I can piggyback my iPhone using its Wi Fi, Ok, so I will never be a geek——- but I never forget a trick!
Get back to you and will answer some of your comments soon.

Much like everything else I think the electric records are divided into classes, I think by voltage, 48v 72v 144v and there is an unlimited which Jaguar Vector has beaten. Mike Bontoft was 144v class but I suppose either his license or something else stopped him from claiming outright. Records require a modicum of intelligence and plenty of people go for the low hanging fruit as such. Why try and beat a high speed record when you can easily surpass a record established when the technology was in its infancy or nobody else was bothered. Not to take anything away but all the existing records were established with early technology on very limited budgets by enthusiasts trying to forge a path. I dread to think what Jaguar Vector has spent to go what is still a relatively modest speed but I hear they are trying again later in the year at records week.
