    Soooo .. ya answered your own question .. and left us out ..

    Day 1 ) Nick , GB , Ryan , Brian and Lee .

    Day 2 ) GB , Ryan , Lee , Brian and Nick

    Lee Austin had a pretty big lead today and stuffed it in the ruff stuff . Port cowling shoved back and broke the throttle cam and oil bag .
    Nick and Brian each broke the front loop area on the factory 280 style swivel brackets putting them both out today .

    Exactly! There are pics floating around of one on an Xcat running a 400R with it broken.
    Chaz, post up pics of what we came up with and you did for the class 7 boat....
    With these 3.0L on the offshore cats in the rough is like taken a 10lb hammer and beating it the entire race. Also the center swivel section is much heavier on the 15” setup. Surprised they were not running bungees.
    Sad way to go down, they were running well.

    Good morning Mr.Tee ..

    They told me the water yesterday was the 20 lb hammer version ...
    All those guy are truly iron men , make's me wanna do 15 minutes on my inversion table just thinking about it ...

    The factory 280 bracket has a 2" setback that's built into the neck . It has two sets of cyl bosses that lets you run a full length cylinder vertical or the shorty in the horizontal position . It also uses that two inch's as a lever to put more stress on the fulcrum point ( like a long breaker bar) . As they say ... no free lunch . You trade ease of installation for a vulnerable part when racing in insane weather conditions.


    What TUX is talking about , is a bracket that split in the front on one side and the top on the other . We , notched , welded ,wrapped , side plated and then bored the tilt hole , pressed in a 6061 tube and then pilot reamed it to final size .
    I have done a couple more since then . Haven't heard back , so I guess that mean's the fix is still working ...

    So this issue was already occurring with the brackets? Good to hear that your solution is still hangin' and bangin' Chaz.

    TUX, pretty sure the XCAT bracket failure was from a collision with another boat.
