    Ha!! Charlie O'Neill!!! That's a name I remember from my childhood. To this kid you seemed to be having a better time than most other racers. I recall you having too much fun and diving into the pool at the hotel in Eufaula and splitting your head open. I'm Ron Titus...my parents are Jeff and Sally.

    i drove the entire 6 hours in single engine unlimited. I was in george griley's powercat trimarand.
    I was really new and set the boat up for speed. The water was so rough i thought i was going to die.
    I should have stopped and lowered the engine tilt, but i was young and too dumb to do so.
    The next year george and i won twin engine unlimited at the phyc 6 hour in his 16 foot glastron.

    Yes sir your parents were some of the pillars of the racing community. Your dad was probably the best set up man in South Florida for our air of racing. Your mom God bless her soul help my wife Joyce with the scoring on the GN Boats for years. We had some good times back then. And I’m glad you grew up to be a good person and a good racer. Yeah that performance of your Eufaula Was not one of my best highlights. Lol anyway I’m out and on the loose. I work at Arg Marine in Riviera Beach I couple of days a week and collect Social Security the rest of the Time. Thank God I paid my taxes some of the time. It’s great reconnecting with people on these social media platforms. God bless you young man

    By the way I was trying to get some advice from your dad about a propeller I’ve got a 20 foot action with a GT 200 Johnson on it. With a Bob’s lower unit on it. It is spinning a 14 x 24 pitch prop at 7000 RPM. I’m going to try A 14 1/2 28 on it to try and get your BMI down to about 6000. Ask your dad if He thinks that willHe thinks that will work period.Tell them I said hi

    Miami area a home to some, a vacation for others, and a playground for many.
    Here, I capsulate some of the past events in Sweet Home (Miami) Alabama.

    ~~~~~
    Miami
    you sly culprit under the sun, your a region of sand, water, and fun.
    Skimpy bikinis waving to onlookers’ hello, near the Miami Boat Show.
    A floating party of music and alcohol, so loud you can’t make a phone call.
    Drake and Diddy’s duet is not a song, but a Miami nightclub brawl headstrong.
    Miami Vice finally sent Justin Beaver, behind bars without B&B leisure.
    Hell Tiger Woods would be his cell mate, but was caught elsewhere upstate.
    Masvidal and Colby’s sidewalk scuffle, presented fans a new UFC shuffle.
    Next match at the Papi Steak house, is, Chris Rock and Will without his spouse.
    Is Lebron James banana boat still afloat, if you can’t swim it’s a lifeboat.
    Bay of Pigs fiasco sunk like a banana peel, a JFK and CIA leaky seal.
    Thereafter, powerboats new rum-runners, smuggling drugs in great numbers.
    Thunderboat Row supplied the flotilla, giving many an ownership to a villa.
    However, Scarface was the underworld, and escalated to bullets being unfurled.
    Don Aronow was at the end of his Formula, bullets found him in South Florida.
    Sunken treasures and above water riches, are found and made as sturdy bridges.
    Miami a region of Spanish gold bullion, buried with sharks & gators as companion.
    ...yes you did gene. have to say, the real south florida was gone by the late seventies, maybe a bit before that. so much freedom to do just about anything you wanted. especially in the summer time. the place was a ghost town.
    Gene the greater Miami area has given us all, many memories. And my poem was highlighting some actions of celebrates and others, of the past and up to current days. And those moments in time, paint a picture of Miami, especially images for people who have never been to the Miami area.
    In the Bond movie, we see Goldfinger playing cards in the Fontainebleau Hotel, also the stage location of performers likes Gleason and Sinatra. And Elvis also added some Hollywood flair with his boat racing in the movie Clambake. Also there are videos of guys catching giant groupers, as big as their girlfriends, in the inter-coastal canals. Some images of the sub-tropical Miami.
    And like many, I have listened to live music on the beach. Played in the ocean, and my cousin and I water-skied with the Miami skyline in the background. Snorkeled Key Biscayne, and to my surprise, nearly a 6 foot nurse shark swam right up to me. Looking at the teeth of barracuda underwater, around the reefs is eye opening too, because their sharp teeth are always on display.
    Miami Marine Stadium the common ground for many on this S&F Thread. My introduction with MMS was at an early age. When the Lake X families headed south for the marathon races, and I literally mean family. The Bakos and the Ridgell families (before Odell’s family took residence at the lake), of wives and their children would swim in the Miami hotel pool. Some wives would fill out lap sheets, whilst kids like me would be roaming in the MMS pits.
    The greater Miami area has, provided me with some fond memories too.
    I wonder if Amberjack, or anyone else on this thread, has worn-out their back and arms catching giant grouper in the South Florida canals.
    I have not, but is interesting that the big fish are there in the locals' backyard.
