Clymer vs. Seloc manuals?
Any preference between these two? I'm too cheap to buy a factory service manual!

There is no such thing as too cheap to buy a factory manual ... the others are bird cage liner
too cheap to buy a factory manual = don't really want to work on your own motor ... like looking for the cheapest aftermarket parts even though you know they won't work

I agree with Mark but if a factory manual is not available I'd go with Clymer. I bought a Seloc to assist in my rebuild and spent more time reading and trying to find info that wasn't there than I did on the whole rebuild. That manual (my $40.00) is now in the recycle bin.

Ditto. OEM manuals are way better than anything else. If you absolutely cannot find an OEM, IMHO, Clymer is a distant 2nd.

As the guys have already said, get the OEM manual. Best investment you ever made.
Those aftermarket manuals are pretty much useless.Markus' Performance Boating Links:

I have a lot of manuals I don't mind giving. I go through and add hot links to them. All I ask is if you find a mistake let me know so I can correct it as I have that capability. What year, make, and HP do you have? If I have a manual that you need it is yours for the asking.

Thanks Wrechin!
It's not a Merc. I have a 1986 Yammi 175 hp, model ETLJ.
Still kicking it around whether to do the powerhead myself.
