Thumbs up 2.5 Mercury ProMax Built by Jay Smith Racing 🚤💨

In April of 2015, I was at work at certainly could not see. After going to the Doctor I discovered I needed multiple surgeries that would not give me my site back but that would only me with 15% of my site in my right eye. With the lose of my site I took a medical retirement form work after 35 years of being a plant supervisor. I knew this was not the end for me. So I decided to take my 1999 21/10 Bullte bass boat out of Storage, my boat had been in storage for 10 years. I had been telling my wife about how I’ve always wanted a Jay Smith Racing motor after fining him online years ago. She courage me to go for it (get your Motor rebuilt bae). I contacted Mr. Smith, took my powerhead off, and brought it to his shop. Upon Arriving at his shop I discover Jay Smith was the Albert Einstein of motor building. He went through the process of rebuilding my motor with me in shop. 1st of all when you walk in his shop you get greeted by 120 pound pitbull. 2nd and most importantly you can eat off the floor in his it is so clean and organized. 3rd he had a 2.5 225 promax laid out on his bench and every piece was weighed and balance. After talking to him and visiting his shop I knew my motor was in good hands, his said one thing that stood out to me “when he gets to heaven he doesn’t want anything in his backpack to have to Explain.” With out going in to grave details out my pass mechanic. Jay Smith built me the Absolute best 2.5 Mercury ProMax Outboard Motor I have ever owned. My motor is a beast, it has power and performs like I’ve never seen before. Jay went above and beyond to repair and rebuild my motor to the promax that turns a 30p Brvo 1 at 7800rpms that it is today. Jay is a super nice guy and is easy to get a long with. I my opinion Jay is the best motor builder on the planet.

    Jsre

Not only did I enjoy the conversations of the internal functioning of a two stroke, I also enjoyed our conversations regarding the world around us. Jay is a knowledgeable man, and oh yea can build one heck of a motor.

How many guys will let you; not just let you but invite you to watch and help them assemble your motor and answer any questions that you have during the process? Class act, not many out there like Jay!

I know having someone look over your shoulder can be nerve wracking, if you don't know EXACTLY what you're getting when you have Jay build you a motor it's only because you didn't want to!!!

When we built the new 5000 sq ft shop we built a 5 star apt so our valued local and international customers can stay on site and observe their motors being assembled and ran I have always ran a transparent business and customers are always welcome to observe my mods , machine work , and assembly methods after all it’s their motor and their money and I’ve always felt any builder that won’t let the owner observe learn and ask questions is hiding somethin.JMO it’s important to me for my customers feel comfortable and confident they are getting and got what they have paid their hard earned money for !!!

Went to Jay’s shop to pick up my motor, I found that my motor needed nothing. The motor was installed on my boat hooked up and everything on the motor fired right up and ran with no problems. I’m going to post a video online of my motor and my wife running my boat.

Wish I had a dollar for every motor that’s been ran on that red run stand , it’s been used for at least 20 years , it has its own fuel , and electrical source as well as a hose in for water , it also has gauges to keep an eye on fuel pressure , voltage etc , don’t know how I could be without it , I built a table in the front to place the DDT to check engines running statistics, and run history...Breaths exhaust through drag motor tuner and exits through a water cooled 5” lazy 90* bend that came from a telescope company...Fuel fed through 2 fuel pumps 1 high pressure drag motor pump and 1 low pressure Holley to feed specific motors , fuel tank is 2 1/2 gallon Jaz Pro Stock car piece , it has its own 8 pinned key switch harness to attach to motors harness , spent water is fed through the 1” thick 6061 billet attachment base to cool the plate then routed through the 5” elbow to cool and quiet exhaust ...

Ive had people that’s asked would I build them one my answer they don’t have enough money , it was a labor to build ...
