Congratulations on being the most read thread on Scream & Fly...
    April 13 2021

First I like to thank all and everyone clicking in at this thread. Its been a lot of fun getting to this point.
The summer is around the corner and my plan is to cut back on my daily posts here at this thread.
I spend way to much time updating my Evinrude/Johnson FaceBook page, the blog Svera.se and being a moderator at CyberMarine.se.
There is plenty of OMC/Evinrude/Johnson racing history on this thread and hopefully Scream & Fly will be here in the Cyberspace for a long time. The owner of S&F does a great job updating and running this forum.
As a moderator at CyberMarine.se I know have much work and cost it is to run a forum.
    Again thanks

    Lars & Carina

Understood........Actually the Outboard and Racing History Forum is running out of fuel. Racers Hangout is not far behind. Posted photos and discussions are repeating themselves. Nothing new. Activity has migrated to all the other S&F forums leaving a handful of "regulars" here. Signing off too..........WZ

Hard to believe but its 40 years ago next month.
OMC was so far ahead of the competition..(but screwed everything up later)

    One more thing..
The UIM F1-V8 series was run mainly in Europe from 1981 to the end of 1985.
In the USA (& Canada) under APBA from 1986 to the end of 1989 when Charlie Strang pulled the plug after 9 years of successful F1-V8 racing.
If you read anything else somewhere..its not correct..

Lars - It is great to see you posting again, if only periodically. I have no doubt that the majority of the community feels the same way.

    With love from Norway today..!!..

WOW..great memories from Arendal, Norway 1980.
The Nordic Championship race for the UIM F3/OE class.
I got the winner’s wreath driving the #1 Sjoberg/AKAI/Evinrude CC.
Roger Einhaug next to me won the SD class.
Always fun racing in Norway..even more fun winning.
The last picture is Ove Torkhildsen..he came in second..I think he was spaying to much water..!!..

One Evinrude CCC & two Johnson RS in the Drammen GP 1980.

All three OMC racing engines was 3 liter V6 loopers, with fuel injection. (Pure racing engines)
Of course the Evinrude was a bit faster and won the UIM OZ class..
#165 Renato Molinari, #11 Bob Spalding & #1 Cees Van Der Velden
Yes, I was there racing the UIM OE/F3 class

I have seen a number of photos of Renato sitting in his boat prior to the race start, before other drivers have got into their race boats. I think Renato was practicing visualization techniques.

Elite athletes utilize the power of guided imagery or visualization. Imagery has long been a part of elite sports and many Olympic athletes have mastered the skill with the help of Sport Psychologists and Mental Game Coaches. Guided visualization or imagery for athletes is consciously controlling the images or directing an athletic script in your head.

Hard to do the visualizations in boat racing as the track keeps changing I would of thought, perhaps lead lap from pole in a tunnel on flat water is different?
I certainly did that in slalom races in snow skiing, works for sure.

    More from Idroscalo, Italy 1983.

    Allan Nimmo in his #15 Castrol/Titanium Molinari/Johnson F1-V8.
Renato did race the boat 1982. Extremely expensive to build.
OMC asked him to go back to wood 1983. Allan Nimmo purchased the used titanium boat from Renato and raced it 1983.
